Leather easy to clean? Yes, but you will if you don't know what you are doing make things worse. Have you ever had a stain on your carpet that you have used spotter on and it goes away but keeps coming back? Well that's because you have dealt with the problem the stain but, you have contaminated the carpet with over application of spotter and now that spotter is acting like a magnet and attracting dirt. (A good rinse will solve this)
You know when you go to the sofa shop to buy your new leather sofa and you're paying for it and you see those leather cleaning kits with the "feed" with them? So you take one home with you thinking that when you new sofa get a little dirty you will be able to deal with it cheaply.
Not all leather finishes need a "Feed" why? Because they have a protective coat over them and if you put that product on to this type of finish you will be just contaminating it and giving the dust and dirt something to stick to.
So how do you tell?
By using a simple test it's called "The Moisture Absorption Test" by mixing some neutral detergent with water into a bottle then spraying this in an area that's not always on view you will be able to tell if your leather has a protective coat on it. If the water is absorbed then its not protected if not then it is.
The good news is if it is protected then it will clean easily with neutral detergent and a sponge but if not then your sofa will absorbed any liquid that is split on it and the stain will not come out. If you have this type of leather then its worth spraying it with the protection when new and topping it up periodically. As it can wear off.
